Creativity will not come when we spend hours together in thinking, It will come spontaneously when we work on that issue. Many people in the world invest their time in thinking rather than implementing their thoughts. People will follow all their traditional way without giving any work to their mind, and feels that is creativity. When all the resources are available to them they are unable to find them. Each one will have different thinking and one special talent but people ignore their talent. When they come out of that mentality and adds some new thing to their mind, they will be in that same standard.

If one wants to achieve some thing different, he should do something different which others has not done. People will work hard to achieve their goal but that is not enough along with that they should work smartly. This is what I learn t in today's class with Burli. By doing different activities in class I gave room ti my mind to think creatively. All the resources are available within us, when we realize them and put them in action our creativity will come outside.

Creativity is a continuous activity for the entrepreneur, by seeing new ways of doing things of how difficult the way is. But the creativity in the entrepreneur is combined with the ability to innovate, to take the idea and make it work in practice.

Be Different and make Difference.

Five K challenge

Five K Challenge

Five K challenge is about the fellows business, where fellows should use their skills to do the business with five thousand rupees within five days. Fellows are given five thousand rupees from the Deshpande Foundation. They themselves should study the market to choose the product for the business. This 5K challenge is to develop the marketing skills, if fellows want to start a business first they should know the market strategies and than they should start the business.
Dev and Chandrashekar were partners to the 5K challenge. Fellows chose to sell mobile currency and onions. They met with shopkeepers for currency business, but many shopkeepers asked more percentage of profit. At last fellows got one person to take five thousand rupees for the business. Fellows settled to an agreement that with five thousand rupees within three days the shopkeeper should give 200 Rs to them.
In these four days fellows had been to market, after studying the vegetable market they have decided to sell onions. Early in the morning they went to wholesale vegetable market and purchased fifty kgs of onion. Fellows purchased onions 6 Rs per kg and sold 8 Rs per kg. They took 25 kgs of onions to Dharwad to sell and 25 kgs they sold to their hostel kitchen, after selling 50 kgs and they got 200 Rs profit.
In the market fellows found different types of customers. They chose some families and hotels to sell the products. Especially bargaining with the vegetables sellers was very tough job.
Fellows invested 5000 Rs, revenue generated was 5300, and travelling expenditure was 112, telephone expenses was 08. finally they got net profit of 180 Rs.

What I Learnt
Through this business I learnt many things. It is very difficult to study the market, choose the product, and sell. After purchasing products fixing the price also is also difficult. Some customer will ask for a very less price. By doing this business I learnt how to bargain with the vegetables sellers, how to convince the people to sell onions, and now I am confident. I can choose the right product and run a business.

Logical Framework Analysis

Devadanam Talapati

Logical Framework Analysis
Introduction
“The log frame model was developed in the United States and it has been adopted by many other countries” (This sentence is taken from PPT). Logical framework analysis (LFA) is a table that gives the information about the main components of a project in a systematic way. LFA is a effective tool to take the project and to raise funds from the funding organizations. If the LFA is clear and effective, than the people like to give the projects and funds.

Logical framework will a brief summary of the particular project, it has only one or two page report but logically it contains all the information goals, purpose, objectives, outcomes etc. While preparing the report one should be very careful because every point will be interlinked to one another and manager’s mind should think logically to prepare this report.
Module Description

To prepare a logical framework designer has to thing logically about purpose, outcome, and activities of the project. Managers, supporters and planners analyze the exact situation during the implementation of the project. Though LFA is brief and concise summary, but it gives a clear picture of the project. One can easily study the project by seeing LFA and maximum donors prefer to see the LFA chart in order to give funds.

Fellows have been divided into three groups to prepare a spider diagram. All teams have chosen Deshpande Fellowship Program as a topic and using strategy like technical skills, monitoring and evaluation, technology, module instructors, infrastructure and modules. Using this topic and strategies all the teams prepared spider diagram and presented it.

After the presentation of spider diagram by the fellows Prakash explained how to prepare a problem tree, objective tree and log frame analysis. He divided the fellows into three groups and told us to prepare all the trees. Each team found different problems and based upon those problems fellows prepared problem tree, objective tree, problem tree to objective tree and objective tree to problem tree. Problems in the problem tree becomes solutions in the objective tree, and solutions in the objective tree becomes Problem in the problem tree. (Police performance in the city to stop corruption is very bad. This is the problem in problem tree. And in objective tree the problem becomes, To improve the police performance level in the city to stop corruption).

There are three stages to prepare a logical framework analysis.
1) Stage 1 Vertical Logic - Starting at the top and using the information from the objective tree consider the overall goal of the project.
2) Stage 2 Indicators - The achievement will be measured including appropriate targets. Appropriate target means, by the end of 2009 poverty in our country should reduce to 30% of the population (quantity, quality and time)
3) Stage 3 Assumptions - Assumptions concerning to, the purpose to goal or activity to output to be measured. (What is my purpose to achieve the goal, and what output I am getting through activity)

Final day all the fellows prepared created logical frame work analysis. Each group of three people presented this logical frames work analysis. In between every presentation Prakash clarified our doubts and helped us to prepare an accurate logical frame work chart.
Key Points of the Module

One should start with problem tree because it will give a clear picture to prepare a logical framework chart accurately. In a LFA of any project goals, outputs, activities are interlinked with each other. Project output depends upon the activities and goals of the project depends on outputs. Starting LFA report with problem tree gives a clear picture to prepare effective LFA.
What I Learnt

By considering different strategies I learnt how to prepare spider diagram, logical framework chart can only be effective if I start with problem tree. How much important the LFA is for the donors and for the organization to implement the project , And to set a goal, purpose, outputs, objectives and indicators in a LFA to my project. If a manager wants to get funds or projects for their organization than that manager has to be very careful and should think logically to prepare a LFA chart, as it is a reflection of the project.

Village study

VIllage study--------Hosawal 24 to 26 feb 2009

I did the Hoswal village study. The villagers are facing no water supply problem, this is due to the Transformer burning.Since one month the villagers are not getting drinking water. The reason for the Transformer burning is the framers those who are using borewell around that Transformer.

Details of the Transformer

25 kw transformer can be used for three bore wells.
Farmers are using four bore wells and one mini water pump.
One bore well will take 4 – 5 kw (approx) depend on capacity of submersible pump.
63 kw transformer can used for 10 bore wells.
Each farmers has to pay 2000 Rs for transformer.
Pocket money to line man.

Pocket money to line man means, whenever the line man comes to check the Transformer the villafers has to give pocket to line man otherwise he will not repair .

Why delay in replacing transformer

I. Negligence of
1.Villagers
2.Gram panchayat

II. Carelessness of
1.KEB Line man

ØFour bore well within 1 km from transformer.
ØThree transformer are burnt in last 3 years.
ØFour people are responsible for transformer burning.

Name of farmer Capacity of Transformer Type

Yallappa Lakkapanavar 5 hp Submersible
Madivallappa Lakkapanavar 3hp “
Kariyappa 7hp “
Lingangouda patil 7hp “

Date of replacing the transformers

05/06
07/08
02/09

Cost of 25 kw transformer is 65000 to 70000 Rs (approx)
Cost of 63 kw transformer is 120000 Rs (approx)

KEB has spent 1,95,000 on transformers

Farmers contributed amount is 9000 Rs.

Total amount KEB spent is 1,86,000 Rs

Main reason for transformer burning
Farmers are Converting single phase into three phase

Now KEB people replaced 25 kw transformer into 63 kw transformer
